Party time

Party time at Mango Beach. Lill the owner of Mango Beach is cutting her birthday cake supplied by a friend - the cake was appropriately decorated with mango slices. All the local and local expats turned up for the birthday bash.

All in a days work

Locals collecting bait off the rocks. What a relaxed life they have - no stress.

Spinning Bluebottle

These round bluebottles are often washed up on the beaches and as the waves wash over them they spin over the sand in the clear water.

A hard days work

The fishermen at work.

The fishermen don't necessarily own the boat they fish in. There are 2 fishermen per rowing boat and the owner is considered the 3rd fisherman - the catch is then split 3 ways - thereby earning the owner money and the fisherman their keep.

Local fishing boats

The local fishermen park their boats on Tofo beach just outside Casa Barry. The fishing boats go out early everyday - they come back with their fresh catch later in the day which is sold at the local market or sent to the Inhambane market.

Jellyfish

This beautiful purple jellyfish was tanning on the beach - I hope it landed up back in the sea.

Tow Fee

This sign on the way to Mango Beach offers anybody getting stuck a tow for 2 free beers :) - the road is a beach sand road through the coconut trees.

The owners of the lodge say they have towed loads of people but nobody has ever paid the 2 free beers.

What a cute kid

This kid goat has got such beautiful markings and such a cute face.

The funniest thing I have seen on a menu in Mozambique is "Kid Curry - Mozambiques lamb" although I would hate to think of this little fellow being on any menu.

An unusual sight

The storm clouds rolled in from the South. I must say that it is not the usual sight of beautiful blue skies - but was a welcomed change from the boiling hot weather that is the norm.

Room for one more

There is always room for one more on a taxi or bakkie travelling on the road :)
